Completion of Framework

On Jan. 30th, a lucky day called "Kichijitsu"in Japan, I was present at the construction site of completion of framework. The constructors worked using 10 ton of a tow truck. But a tow truck's arm couldn't reach the back of the site. Therefore all of the carpenters carried member of framework by hand and finally completion of framework finished. The wing is good height related surround.
Next day, it was very clear and warm day as felt sweaty, only January! The carpenters set up the rafter and sheathing.
Mr. Ebe, a foreperson of Fukaya kensetsu, is pictured right. Mr. Usui, a master carpenter, is pictured left.
"I have never been experienced this warm winter!" Mr. Usui said. Because They had much snow in last January in Nasu. (as picture)
I wish it won't snow hard on February.

17/Jan/07
Backfill

The demolish of the formwork has finished, the constructor started backfill of the drilled soil. The construction site fall towards the back from the road and the back level is about 2M higher than a road level.
We use the difference of elevation to plan this house like buried into a slope.

16/Jan/07
Dismantlement of formwork

The construction started from 6th, Jan.
The formwork was dismantled melting snow layer about 20 cm, it has been completed. The finish of concrete is perfect. We are looking forward to seeing the view from 2nd floor.

27/Dec/06
Cast concrete

We worried about today's weather due to day-old low atmospheric pressure, but it was clement day for casting concrete. After the final check of layout of reinforcement in the morning, the constructors cast concrete.
In Nasu, the temperature is around 10 degrees in the daytime, but at night it drops down to about 0 degrees. We combined concrete and "freeze proofing agent" to avoid freeze.
So if the temperature will drop down about 10 degrees. The agent makes concrete keep the effectual temperature for the construction.
We will use the New Year's holidays to do concrete cure until 5th, Jan.

26/Dec/06

The layout of reinforcement inspection

Under rainy skies and rigid conditions as temperature is 2 degrees, the constructors had working. For tomorrow's casting concrete, we did the layout of reinforcement inspection.

Mr. Nakahara of Nakahara architect's office, as a structural architect ran a check on it.
He rapidly checked the main points such as the fixing length of the reinforcing, with the specialist's eyes.

And we directed the constructors to care about the temperature management.
It is one of the factors as in determining of the good concrete or not.

After tomorrow's casting concrete, the construction in this year will end.

1 Floor; Layout of reinforcement and formwork

The work of layout of reinforcement and formwork had been well on.
The constructors had worked toward casting concrete scheduled for on 27th in the cold weather as numb fingers.
I called to them "Thanks for a job well done."
And they said smiling "We feel good when it is this cold. So it makes good progress!"
Such confidence! I take off my hat to their sprit.

But we faithfully checked their work, such as size, number, pitch and the fixing way of the layout of reinforcement. They passed this check.

On December 26th, we are going to check the layout of reinforcement of 2nd floor.

Confirmation of the site and start excavation work

As cutting of trees had completed, the excavation work started. We checked the ground plane from a test pit. As a result, we could confirm assumed supporting soil.

2/Nov/06

Ceremony for sanctifying ground

With attendance of the clients, the constructors and us, the ceremony was held by Kuroiso shrine.

After then, we checked the layout of a new house, site level and unwanted trees by reference to the rope which was set up along a building line.
